Planning the Reading Project

To start off, I decided to chose my topic to work on. I originally began with the idea to work on "Sports Games" because I have a lot of experience with these games from playing them over the years but then after receiving some feedback from Shaun, I decided to look through the list of topics and then went with the topic of "Core Mechanics and Gameplay.

After thinking about this topic for some time I realised I am a lot happier to work on it over "Sports Games". My reasoning behind this is because I have played video games for my entire life, from action games to a simple family simulator game called "The Sims", so I feel like I have a lot of experience in different games with various different core mechanics and core gameplay. This allows me to have a greater understanding of what I will be researching and what I will eventually be writing about.

I plan to use RefWorks to keep track of all the academic papers I will be reading. I was told this is the best way to do this so that is why I plan to use it.

I then went on to research some keywords that would be suitable and relevant for my project. To do this I researched some papers on google that was relevant to "Core Mechanics and Gameplay" and then once this was done I had a lot of keywords that would help me find suitable academic papers to read.

Here are all my keywords that I came up with. I made up a quick image on Canva to feature all my keywords.
